History

In the early 1900's the Goodwill Circle of St. Johns Evangelical Church recognized the need for a retirement community.

The idea was discussed by a group of interested people from St. John's Church. This group of people purchased the home with four acres of ground and the home known as The Altenheim was organized and incorporated in 1906.

Today, 100 years later, The Altenheim campus remains much as it was when the doors were first opened to the Louisville community. Upon closer look, you immediately see that The Altenheim is bright, modern, updated and equipped to perform services to our highest standards. Our priority is to focus on the dignity and well-being of our residents. We continue to carry out unsurpassed care, assessed on our residents' individual needs.
