Is The Altenheim part of a national chain or corporation?

No, The Altenheim is a non profit private foundation managed by a volunteer board of directors from the Louisville Community.

Does The Altenheim have an initial application fee?

No, we do not have any application fees and/or move in charges

Does The Altenheim have any hidden charges or up charges that we need to be aware of?

The daily charge includes all nursing services, three meals daily, medications dispensed by nursing personnel, laundry, housekeeping and linen services.

Can The Altenheim meet the needs of persons with diagnoses of Alzheimer’s or other dementia diagnoses?

Absolutely. We have a secure unit for persons with dementia. The Altenheim offers therapeutic activity programs to promote independence, enhance cognitive function through recreation and entertainment.

Does The Altenheim offer activities?

Yes, The Altenheim has an array of recreational activities to meet our resident’s individual recreational interests. In addition we schedule weekly social outings and trips utilizing our bus with wheelchair accommodations.

Does The Altenheim provide transportation to doctor’s appointments?

Yes, we transport persons to physician appointments via our bus. In addition we have a member of our nursing staff accompany them to their appointments.

Are medications dispensed by qualified staff?

All medications are administered under the supervision of Registered Nurses. We have registered and licensed nurses on duty 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Does The Altenheim provide therapies?

The Altenheim offers physical, occupational, speech and respiratory therapy.
